Synopsis: There is a woman called Vimala who fought for about two-and-a-half-years in Kerala High Court, for recognition. In fact, she was cheated by a man, who escaped after she becomes pregnant. She gave birth to a girl and brought her up. When she wanted to admit her child to a school, the authorities demanded the father's name of that child. She did not want to reveal that name even to her child. When the authorities refused admission on that ground, she moved the High Court for justice. After hearing arguments of Vimala, the High Court gave a verdict in her favour. The judges opined that a woman giving birth to a child is a fact. However, the father's name depends on faith and trust. So it could be optional. The court ruled that any application should bear the name of the mother and father's name could be optional. This news item inspired Tripuraneni Maharathi to prepare a story based on this real life incident. The same was being portrayed on the celluloid in the name of 'Gelupu'.
