Synopsis
Madala Ranga Rao, well known for revolutionary movies, has been off films. He was last seen in Erra Matti and after that there has been no news about him. However, his son Dr Madala Ravi has brought the father back into films.
After studies and working in Russia, Ravi is back for good and producing a movie titled Nenu Saitham. Like father like son, this movie has a burning social problem as its subject. Gurlin Chopra will play the female lead. If you wonder what a glamour girl is doing in a movie like this, we are told that she is playing a middle class girl. There are no duets in the film. The story is about a gunman who hates injustice and revolts against it in his own way.
Ravi was interested in movies since childhood but Ranga Rao was keen that he complete his academics first. He acted as a child artiste in Erra Mallelu made by his father and that particular song sequence was a chartbuster. Incidentally Davala Satyam, who directed Erra Mallelu, is directing this movie. “My father plays a special role as a geologist and I am sure his fans will be thrilled to see him after seven years.
I want to follow in his footsteps and make films with social themes. This film too portrays the dilemmas of today’s society but in a comical way without detracting from the seriousness.”
Is there market for such movies in today’s scenario? “Definitely there is. It is only the visual media, which can mirror different angles of the current society in an entertaining way. People want to know what is happening behind politics and bureaucracy. My father’s movies were appreciated a lot in those days. Now I want to make similar themes with a contemporary touch and keep the trend alive.”
The shooting of the movie is complete and post production work is on. The film will be released in May.
