'Ammayi Bagundi', is a remake of a successful Tamil film 'Parthiban Kanavu'. The film is based on a delicate storyline and the director, Balasekharan was able to extract the performance of the lead artistes efficiently, with clean and neat picturisation of the film right from the beginning. Climax of the movie was also executed differently with a good twist.

Story:Siva (Sivaji) is a nice young man, but could not just adjust in any job. His father Ramanatham (Sivakrishna) is a registrar and his mother (Sudha) and his paternal uncle (MS Narayana) always used to pamper Siva. Siva gets a job in a mobile company as a marketing executive. So Ramanatham decides to get him married. Siva happens to see a girl in the bus-stop while whiling away time with his friends (Ali, Chitram Sreenu and Anil). He falls in love at first sight. Ramanatham takes Siva for an alliance to Manikyam's (Rajan P Dev) house. Incidentally, Siva finds the girl, with whom he fell in love at first sight and finds her name is Satya (Meera Jasmine). He immediately accepts the alliance. Siva somehow finds the likes and dislikes of the girl with the help of his friends. Ramanatham presents his son a posh house as wedding gift. So Siva decorates his new house to suit the taste of his fiancée. After the marriage, Siva brings his wife to his house. Surprisingly, while they were on the way, Siva finds his love moving by on the road and realises that he married a look-alike of his love and not the one whom he loved. After going home, Siva finds that the tastes of his wife are opposite to that of the girl he fell in love. Here starts the emotional struggle for Siva. In order to find the other girl, he goes to the office where she was working and comes to know that her name is Janani (Meera Jasmine). With the address given in the office, he goes to Trivandrum only to find that she left that place. To his surprise, Janani rents a flat just opposite to his house. unable to see Siva's suffering, his friend Dada Giri (Ali) goes to Janani's flat and reveals how Siva loved her and the kind of struggle he was facing. Later, Satya realises why her husband could not move freely with her.

She returns to her parents' place but did not reveal anything to them. She takes a decision to unite her husband with Janani, whom he loved. Satya calls up Janani and tells her to marry her husband. But Janani, instead of accepting it, tells Satya that her husband was loving her very much. To drive her point home, Janani again dresses Satya like her and make her talk to Siva. This time, Siva proves his honesty saying that he is loving his wife so much. When questioned why, Siva tells her that he loved Janani for a few days. But his wife had supported him before his in-laws for a few days' stay with him and his love doubled on learning that she was ready to sacrifice him, though being her husband. Then Satya reveals her identity saying that she was his wife only. The film ends on a happy note with Janani congratulating them with a happy wedded life.
Music: Music by M.M. Srilekha is impressive. All the songs are melodious.
Performance: Sivaji gave best performance as lover and worried husband. He was able to show perfect emotions in various angles on various occasions. Meera Jasmine, played a dual role in the film. She too gave excellent performance, with diverse emotions in both the roles. She looked glamourous in modern dresses as well as in the traditional saree. She was able to show good variation in appearance and expressions as well. Comedy by Brahmanandam, Ali and others are not bad. Rajan P Dev played a neat role as a character artiste.
