'Chanti' has a routine storyline which we have witnessed in umpteen mass entertainers and added to that the narration is slow paced with no major twists. Ravi Teja who had shot to fame with comedy laced family entertainers, is back with Chanti. In spite of the hype surrounding it, the film is disappointing. The only highlight is the much publicised scene where Ravi Teja imitates the superstars of yesteryears.
Story:Chanti (Ravi Teja) is an officer in the Indian army. His father (Ranganath), an ex-military man and a blind sister (Revathi) are in the village. Chanti returns when he hears about his father’s death and later decides to stay back to get his sister married and see her settled. He had inherited five acres of land from his father but this land is on the proposed road that leads to a sugar factory owned by a local MLA (Atul Kulkarni). Chanti gets his sister married to another military officer. The MLA pleads with Chanti to sell the land to him, but our hero attaches a lot of sentimental value to the property as his father was buried there. This becomes the bone-of-contention and soon the MLA seeks vengeance by murdering Chanti’s brother-in-law. Soon Chanti realises that his father was also killed by the same MLA and the rest of the film is how he takes revenge on the villains.
Music: Background score by Sri is average.
Performance: Ravi Teja has tried his best to lift the film but the screenplay lets him down. Charmy is just ok while debutant Anjali provides the oomph.
Verdict Below Average.
