'Kala' is directed by Chimmani Manohar, who had a couple of Gold Medals and another couple of Master's degrees to his credit. He worked as an associate with Dasari Narayana Rao earlier. Moreover, he bagged Nandi award for his book 'Cinema Script - Rachana Silpam'. Though having good talent in many aspects, his screenplay is quite slow in the first half. Though it picked up momentum after the second half to certain extent, again the nagging climax was unnecessarily dragged.

Story:Kiran (Raja) is an unemployed man, who appeared for 99 interviews but could not get a job. He is set out for the 100th interview, but did not. Instead of attending interviews and searching for a job, he thought of starting his own company. The idea behind the start of the company is 'a dream'. He tells his friends that everyone will have a dream of his own and wanted to realise it once in his lifetime. So Kiran and his friends start a firm called 'Kalalu Pandinchukundaam Raa Pvt. Ltd.'. Customers keep approaching them to fulfil their dreams. Once a person called Choudary (AVS) comes and tells them that he wanted to become a judge, though he did not possess a law degree. So, Kiran and his friends take a film-setting, employ people, enact a court scene and shoot the film. Like this, they help people realise their dreams through artificial means.

Once Anusha (Harshita) approaches Kiran to fulfil her dream of becoming a heroine in Dr K Raghavendra Rao's film. She made them to agree that they had to provide a list of items that are going to be used in the film shoot and puts a condition that Kiran had to listen to her if they miss any of the articles that was mentioned in the list. They start shooting of the film and project her like a heroine in Dr K Raghavendra Rao's film. During the shooting, they use a brinjal in place of a guava. Anusha objects to it and made Kiran to follow her to Malaysia. Later Kiran falls in love with Anusha. Later he finds that Anusha is suffering from a disease and will not live longer for more than a few months. He finds from the doctors that transplantation of bone marrow will help her survive. Shankar Bhai (Amit Kumar) is a killer and he is ready to kill anyone even for Rs 100. He used to escape from the clutches of police every now and then. Kiran used to plead with him to shun violence and come out of the wrong path on several earlier occasions. The doctors find that Shankar Bhai's bone marrow suits Anusha. So Kiran pleads with him and finally admits him to hospital under police escort. After the bone marrow transplantation, again he escapes. The film ends on a happy note with the union of Anusha and Kiran.
Music: Music by Dharma Teja is average.
Performance: Raja, who had played hero in a couple of films like 'Appudappudu' and 'Vijayam' has put up good peformance, so does debutant heroine Harshita, an MBA student. Sivareddy, Chitram Sreenu and Junior Nagarjuna played buddies to Raja. Many characters in the film imitated senior artistes like NT Ramarao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao and Balakrishna. Venumadhav as Devadasu, Suhasini as Chandramukhi and Shakeela as Parvathi, Dharmavarapu Subrahmanyam as Balakrishna in 'Lakshmi Narasimha', Sunil as 'young crane director', Ali as a patient, AVS as Justice Choudary (NT Ramarao) delivered good comedy.
