'Kalyana Ramudu' brings back the hit combination of 'Chirunavvutho'. The subject of the movie is family oriented with good comedy. Director Ram Prasad has done a comendable job. Dialogues by M Raja are good. Venu shows lot of maturity in his acting skills.

Coming to story, Actually the movie is a flash back narrated by Ramu, Ramu (Venu) is a post graduate and is self employed. He has an elder brother Siva (Suman). During one such wedding of Lakshmi, a dumb girl, the bridegroom elopes with a girl whom he loved and the marriage was forced to cancel. To console bride's parents Chandrasekharam (Nazar) and his wife (Sana), Ramu convinces his second brother a doctor by profession to marry that girl.

In the same wedding function, Ramu falls in love with Kalyani (Nikitha) another daughter of Chandrasekharam. Chandrasekharam proposes Kalyani's marriage to Rajesh (Prabhu Deva) but when he comes to know about the love between Ramu and Kalyani he arranges for their engagement. During the engagement, Lakshmi dies in a fire accident. On the advise of the manager (Gundu Prasad), Chandrasekharam shows the horoscopes of both Ramu and Kalyani to an astrologer (JV Somayajulu). The astrologer reveals that there is a curse on Ramu's family and none of the wives in that family will have a long life. So, Chandrasekharam decides to cancel the marriage. He reveals the curse on their family to Ramu and requests him to keep off from Kalyani. Ramu tries to detest from Kalyani. But later kalyani comes to know the truth behind Ramu's behaviour. She goes in search of him and meets with an accident. At her request, Ramu ties the nuptial knot on the way to hospital. However, finally Kalyani becomes a mother and later a grandmother. Thus the climax of the movie rules out the misconception of horoscopes and future predictions.

Venu's performance is excellent. His was at ease with both comedy and sentiment scenes. Nikitha looked beautiful gave a commendable performance. All the other senior artist gave a flawless performance. First half of the movie is enjoyable but the second half was dragging with all the sentimental scenes. Comedy is impressive. Music by Manisharma is average. Overall 'Kalyanaramudu' is a good family entertainer.
