Amma Rajasekhar's directoral debut 'Ranam' is all about love and winning it at all odds through
psychological games. The movie has the routine storyline. The director tried to show it differently
and he succeded upto some extent. Producer Pokuri Babu Rao who is known for making fine films with
social message has preferred commercial entertainment with this film.
Chinna (Gopichand) is sent to a city by his father (Chandra Mohan) for higher studies. The city is
ruled by Bhagawathi (Biju Menon), a mafia don. Maheshwari (Kamna Jetmalani), the sister of
Bhagawathi, studies in the college where Chinna joins. Chinna gets interested in her. Once
Bhagawathi's men attacks the college. Chinna beats them to death. On seeing this, Maheshwari falls
in love with Chinna. Bhagawathi comes to know about Chinna and starts fighting with him. And how
Chinna resorts to a mind game on Bhagawathi to win his sister forms the rest of the story.
Performance:
Gopichand has performed the role well. His style of delivering dialogue is good. His dancing
performance seems to be improved. Kamna Jetmalani has shown her better performance as the heroine.
She looks beautiful. Biju's role as a bad man is fine. The comedy track among Ali, Venumadhav and
Suman Shetty is good. Music composed by Mani Sharma is one of the assets of the film. All the songs
are good. Dialogues and fights are the highlight in the movie. Screenplay and direction of the movie
are ok. All the other technical aspects are adequate.
