'Robot' is directed by S. Shankar. And he has come up with a variety storyline and though the presentation is good, the narrative is average.
Story:
'Robot' is a typical science fiction movie in which Rajinikanth plays a dual role of a scientist and a Robot. The scientist Dr. Vaseegaran creates a Robot with artificial intelligence and names it as Chitti. The Robot eventually falls in love with Sharmili, a character played by Aishwarya Rai. The Robot starts writing romantic poems and behaves like a human being. Being aware of the extraordinary artificial intelligence of the Robot, the villains try to get hold of the Robot. The scientist then fights back to prevent the Robot from falling prey to the enemies. Vaseekaran works on that as well but that leads to trouble to him and his lady love Sana (aishwarya). What is that trouble and where the story goes from there forms the rest.
Performance:
Rajinikanth has done his role with élan and though his usual mannerisms are missing, he manages to score brownie points. Aishwarya is a real visual treat, her sensuous appeal and her natural glow has been captured very well and her presence on the screen keeps audience busy. Danny was decent, Santhaman was okay, Cochin Haneefa was alright, M S Bhaskar was moderate, Kalabhavan Mani was quick, the others did their bit as required.
Music:
'Robot' music is composed by the greate Oscar winner A.R. Rahman. And the background score was alright but only three songs were good, and remainign were not upto the mark.
