Seenu Vasanthi Lakshmi is a heart warming story of a blind singer (Seenu), his sister (Vasanthi) and his dumb friend (Lakshmi). Music director RP Patnaik played the role of the blind singer. He gave an excellent performance as well as good music for the film. The subject was successful in Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam. Though a debut director, E Srinivas also moulded the story excellently on the celluloid, extracting the latent talents among all the artistes. According to Chiranjeevi, 'It is a film that had to be watched with soul.'

Story Seenu (RP Patnaik) is a blind singer. He has a brother elder than him, who is a spoiled brat, while he has a sister, younger to him, called Vasanthi (Priya). Vasanthi loves her brother so much that she was ready to sacrifice anything for him. Lakshmi (Navneet Kaur) is their neighbour, who is a dumb girl, but is in love with Seenu. She always prays God to give eyesight to Seenu. Appalanaidu (Prakashraj) is a former MLA of the region and is a nice gentleman. Once he brings Manohar (Rahul), son of a Union Minister to the village. Seenu meets Appalanaidu, along with Babayi (Giribabu) and seeks his help in getting some personal loan. Appalanaidu, besides calling up the bank officials in arranging loan for Seenu, also advises Babayi to take him to the nearby town where there is a good eye specialist, who was his friend. Appalanaidu tells him that he might get vision. As per his advise, Seenu and Babayi meet that doctor and learn that Seenu has a chance to get vision through cornea transplantation. So, Lakshmi and Vasanthi compete with each other to donate their eyes.

At this juncture, Manohar happens to see both these girls and eyes them. He tells Appalanaidu that he wanted those village beauties to share bed. Appalanaidu, true like a politician, makes an agreement with Manohar to get the licence for his factory by influencing his father and the latter okays it. Appalanaidu calls Vasanthi and Lakshmi and gives them sedatives and leaves them to Manohar. Later Appalanaidu threatens them that he would kill the entire families of both the girls if they reveal it to others. Both the girls console each other. Babayi brings an alliance to Vasanthi. But unable to bear the humiliation, Vasanthi commits suicide. Everyone in the village think that she had committed suicide as she is not interested in the alliance. Appalanaidu and Manohar visit Seenu's house to console him by shedding crocodile tears. But Seenu, kills both of them saying that he knows everything, how the innocent girls were molested. He says that he did not want vision to watch such a crooked world at the end.

Music by R.P Patnaik is melodious.
Performance
All the three lead characters RP, Priya and Navneet Kaur performed extremely well. Especially the histrionics of RP like a blind man are extraordinary. Priya and Kaur also showed good performance in sentimental scenes. Prakashraj was his usual best. Nuthanprasad played a good role as a sick father. Umasri played the mother of RP. Comedy by Sunil is okay.
