'Simhachalam' starring Srihari is already declared a hit for its power packed dialogues and excellent action scenes. The subject of the movie is the story of a sincere cop. It is a comeback film for Meena on the telugu screen after a long time. She proved to be the right choice for the character as Srihari's wife. Director Indra kumar though a debut did an excellent job.

Coming to story, Simhachalam (Srihari) is a sincere and honest DCP. He believes that going out of law to teach a lesson to the culprits is not wrong. He goes to the traders and tells them to attack the rowdy elements, if they demand mamools. This keeps the dadas at bay. Once, he calls all the top rowdy elements to his office and gives them a sound thrashing in the name of counseling. Unable to digest this, Sitaramaraju (Raman Punjabi) instigates his brother Narasimharaju (Hemanth Ravan), who kills one trader's son in broad daylight and dares the police. Despite warning Narasimharaju comes to the DCP's office and gets arrested. When Sitaramaraju gets him released on bail, Simhachalam kills him intentionally, but proves that it is a misfire from his revolver. Outraged Sitaramaraju plants a bomb in Simhachalam's car but Simhachalam's friend (Suresh) dies in the blast. Simhachalam arrests him after a chase. But, he did not want to get released on bail, as he fears that he too would be killed like his brother. Sitaramaraju's wife (Jhansi) seeks the help of her brother

Doraswamyraju (Prakashraj), a faction leader of Seema, in the release of her wife. Doraswamyraju's plans prove futile in releasing his brother-in-law and because of Simhachalam's plan he even confesses his crime in the court. Again Doraswamyraju prepares another plan and wanted to make Sitaramaraju as a MLA and bring him out, in a by-election. To divert the attention of Simhachalam, Doraswamyraju kills the DCP's wife (Meena) and when he is out of the polling booth area; his men kill several police officials. They also bash up Simhachalam black and blue. Shoot at sight orders against Doraswamyraju is issued. To escape from the country, Doraswamyraju first kidnaps three MLAs and demands the release of his brother in law. He also demands that only the Home Minister (Kota Srinivasa Rao) should accompany him. How Simhachalam deals with this situation and comes out a winner forms the climax of the story.
Srihari's histrionic performances are remarkable. Action scenes by Vijayan and special effects by Horsemanbabu are the highlights of the film. Prakash Raj dominates the entire second half. There are only a couple of duets, which is also a saving grace. Background score by Manisharma is impressive. To sum up 'Simhachalam' is "THE movie" for Srihari fans.
